Dirk Heffter has worked in the building industry for more than 30 years, gaining experience in Germany, Great Britain and New Zealand. Since moving to Christchurch in 2004 he has built a reputation for quality workmanship, practical problem solving and thoughtful residential design.
With practical building experience, an LBP Carpentry Licence since 2011, and an LBP Design Licence since 2021, every project is designed with real construction knowledge — not just architectural theory

Following the Christchurch earthquakes, Dirk transitioned from working on the tools into managing Craftworx, a successful construction company employing up to twelve staff.
After relocating to Nelson, the business was intentionally reshaped into a smaller, highly skilled team, allowing greater attention to quality, communication and client relationships.
Today, every project benefits from that lifetime of practical experience.
Building relationships
Good communication is one of the most important parts of every successful project.
Detailed 3D drawings allow clients to visualise their home before construction begins, giving confidence that every detail has been carefully considered.
They also provide valuable communication between the designer, engineers and builders, helping identify potential issues before construction starts—often avoiding costly changes later.
That is one of the greatest advantages of working with someone who has spent a lifetime both designing and building.
